September 23,2013 – Late summer here at our Kodiak Alaska fishing lodge often offers some of the season’s best weather and fishing. While there is a definite change in the seasons the rains and high winds don’t seem to be as prevalent as in October. A bright cloudless sky and glassy, calm waters often greet the anglers venturing out at this time of year.
The calm seas allow us to troll for the late season silver salmon while still taking plenty of halibut and ling cod. September also brings about the height of the wild berry harvesting. raspberries are all about and for those willing to put in a little exploring salmon and blueberries are also plentiful.
When planning a wilderness vacation to an Alaska Fishing Lodge don’t discount September for some fantastic weather and outstanding fishing.
