10/2/2013 – Guests visit our Alaska Fishing Lodge for many reasons. Most come to try for giant halibut or a big king salmon, or to view the abundant wildlife or take in the incredible scenery but most are pleasantly surprised to experience crabbing Alaska style.
Alaska state law allows people with a valid Alaska fishing license to set crab traps to catch and retain all species of crabs. Alaska Residents are allowed to catch King , Tanner and Dungeness crab. We have crab traps available here at the lodge and show guests how and where to fish them.
Many times while in route to deploy the crab traps we will see Kodiak Brown Bears, Sitka Blacktail Deer, sea otters, Bald eagles and a large variety of marine birds.
